How to prepare your home for Spring! 7 Ways
Whether you’re considering selling your home or you’re just in need of a good spring spruce, there are lots of ways you can prepare your home for Spring!
1. (Deep) Spring Clean
We couldn’t talk about preparing your home for Spring if we didn’t talk about spring cleaning! Before you roll your eyes, hear us out; instead of the standard house clean, we challenge you to go that bit deeper.
When was the last time you scrubbed your doorframes, your baseboards or your walls? Take your home to the next level and scrub all those little nooks and corners that often get overlooked when we’re just doing the basic clean.
2. Prepare for allergy season
Spring also means allergies! Take the opportunity to prepare your home for spring by taking extra care when dusting and vacuuming. If you have pets, consider giving them a good brush or a trip to the groomers to clean up their winter coats. Your allergy-suffering family and friends will thank you for it.
3. Clean gutters
The winter months may have brought extra dirt, leaves and debris in your gutters. Overflowing and dirty gutters aren’t nice to look at, and can lead to issues down the track. Cleaning out the gutters at the start of the spring months can save you a lot of trouble later, including leaks and damage to your drainage.
4. Test smoke alarms
It’s one of those jobs that has to be done, but we so rarely think about it or make the time to. Take the few minutes to test your smoke alarms, change the batteries and give yourself some peace of mind! If you are unable to test them yourself, most fire stations will come test them for you, usually at no cost.
5. Clean outdoor furniture
Spring paves the way for warm summer nights, barbeques and more time spent outdoors! Make sure you keep your outdoor areas guest-ready and give your furniture a good clean. Dust off any cobwebs, scrub off dust and dirt and have your furniture ready for your springtime gatherings!
6. Let the air in
Open the windows, pick some fresh flowers and let the sunshine into your home! It’s one of the simplest and easiest ways to liven up your space and have it feeling Spring-ready.
7. Declutter!
Take advantage of the fresher, longer days and tackle those decluttering tasks you’ve been putting off! Have a junk drawer you just keep adding to? Are your kitchen cupboards a nightmare to look at? Now’s the perfect time to declutter any space that needs it. Your home will be fresher and cleaner, and you’ll feel better for letting go of items you don’t need.
